General emergency alarm signal : Seven or more short blast followed by one long blast
Emergency:- Immediate Action Required/Members of The Team
PERSONNEL INJURY:-
- Evacuate injured person to a safe & comfortable location
- Assess the condition of the injured and administer First Aid
- If needed seek Medical Advise by Radio
- Monitor and record patient’s condition and update radio medical advise
- Consider need to transfer patient ashore
Command Team (C/T) Duties:-
- Seek information from persons involved in the emergency
- Compile communication reports and record all events
- Inform DPA and if applicable P&I and relevant authorities.
- If needed seek medical advice by Radio
- Fix vessel’s position and check nearest port for evacuation.
- Use international code of signals as reference for external communication
Emergency Team(E/T) Duties:-
- Evacuate injured person to a safe & comfortable location
- Assess the condition of the injured and administer First Aid
- Consult MFAG & Ships Captain’s Medical Guide as required
- Monitor condition of patient and consider need to land ashore
- In the event of death prepare to store body temporarily in cold room
Support Team (S / T) Duties:-
- List out / pack patients personnel effects if landing ashore.
- Assist as required
Engine Room / Roving Team (R / T) Duties:-
- Assist as required
Remark :
- When a fire alarm is sounded it is to be left ringing till stopped by the master, master after stopping the fire alarm will sound the emergency signal.
- For emergency stations crew must carry the life jacket and elsa to their muster stations, life jackets to be worn only at abandon ship
- Drills to be conducted in such a way as if they are real.
- Fire alarm is indicated by continuous ringing of the bell (…………)
