Bulk carrier PETRA STAR ran aground at Istanbul Beykoz coast, Black sea, on Jan 27, after engine failure. The ship attempted to prevent grounding by dropping anchor or both anchors, but didn’t succeed in stormy weather conditions, and was beached. Understood crew remain on board, there’s no danger to crew and ship, so far. Turkish SAR and CG are on the scene. The ship is en route from Istanbul to Port Kavkaz Russia, understood in ballast.
