VIETNAMESE CARGO SHIP SANK IN HAINAN WATERS, CREW RESCUED

General cargo ship issued distress signal at around 1430 Beijing time Jul 7, east of Haikou, Hainan island, China, South China sea. Master reported cargo shift, heavy portside list, crew preparing to abandon vessel. MRCC Qinglan corrdinated SAR with deployment of rescue ship and nearby cargo ships. All 12 crew were rescued by Chinese freighter REN SHUN DA, all are said to be safe. Not yet clear what happened to the ship, whether she sank or is still adrift. Last AIS signal dated 0800 UTC Ju
